Listen Mode overview

Real-time chord detection, key, scale, and harmony — while you play.

Listen Mode is your real-time musical companion. Open it, start playing, and Larka continuously shows you what chord you're on, what key you're in, and how everything fits together.

What it detects

Current chord — the large chord display at the top updates as you play. Standard chords (major, minor, 7th) are recognized. The display shows the chord with its full name.

Key & Scale — as you keep playing, Larka builds up a picture of your tonal center. The detected key and scale (e.g. "D Major") are shown below the chord.

Chord history — a scrolling timeline shows the last several chords you played, so you can see your progression as it unfolds.

BPM — if you're playing rhythmically, the tempo is detected and displayed.

Use cases

Learning a song by ear — play along with a recording and see exactly what chords are being played.

Jamming & improvising — see what key you're in so you know which scales to solo over.

Songwriting on the fly — discover a progression you love and immediately read off the chord names.

Teaching — show students exactly what chord they're holding.

Tips

  • ·Play in a quiet environment for the sharpest detection.
  • ·The detection is most accurate for guitar and piano. Voice works too but chord detection is based on harmonic content.
  • ·Let each chord ring for a moment — Larka updates within 1–2 seconds of a chord change.
