What’s New in Larka: A Big Update, Shaped by Our Beta Testers

Larka has come a long way in the past few weeks, and here’s the part I’m proudest of: almost every change below started as a message from a beta tester. Real musicians, using Larka to make real songs, telling us what got in their way.

Here’s what’s new.

A music library that finally feels like home

Every song you make now lives in one place, with its cover art, and you can search and sort to find anything fast. No more scrolling to remember where that track went. Your work is organized the way a growing collection of songs should be.

A more powerful player

The player grew up. When you open a song you can now:

• ·Play it full-screen with the artwork and lyrics.
• ·Extend it past the usual length when you want more.
• ·Remix it into a new take without starting over.
• ·Split it into stems, so you can pull out the vocal or the instrumental on their own.

That last one matters if you take your tracks into a DAW or want to sing over the instrumental yourself.

Create a song and walk away

A song takes a minute or two to generate, and testers told us the scariest moment was wondering whether leaving the app would lose their work.

So we fixed the whole flow. When you tap Generate, Larka keeps working even if you switch apps, and it sends you a notification the moment your song is ready. If your connection drops mid-way, the song is recovered and waiting for you when you come back. You can start a song and get on with your day.

Turn your own audio into a song

With Import Audio you can bring in a recording or a voice memo you already have, a riff, a hummed idea, a rough phone recording, and build a finished, produced song around it. The idea you captured months ago doesn’t have to stay stuck in your Voice Memos.

It runs on more iPhones now

We heard from people who wanted to install Larka but couldn’t, because we had set the required iPhone software version too high. That’s fixed. Larka now runs on far more iPhones, and the whole app got smoother and cleaner along the way. If it wouldn’t install for you before, please give it another try.

What’s coming next, and it’s coming from you

The feedback keeps shaping the roadmap. Right now we’re expanding the genre engine so styles like Afrobeat, Amapiano, Afro-house, Dancehall and Reggaeton come out sounding truly like themselves, not a generic version, after a producer in our beta group showed us exactly where it fell short. A bigger library of distinct voices is on the list too.
